8th Grade Social Studies
This year is a little bit of a collection of different topics for Social Studies, but they all revolve around decision making. We will look at a Economics from a personal and business perspective. We will also be looking at world history, and government. Finally we will be looking at some pop culture and the impact it has on people.
Update 2/28/18
We are getting into some of the more major parts of World War One right now, by looking at different topics and analyzing their impact on the war. We have talked about everything from trenches to poison gas, tanks to zeppelins, the Lusitania to the Zimmerman telegram, and many other topics. Something we found interesting was an event called Black Tom Explosion. It was a munitions depot in the Hudson harbor that was sabotaged by the Germans. The shrapnel from the explosion damaged the Statue of Liberty and that is why you can on longer go up into the torch.
We will have a test soon over all of World War One.
Reminder the last day for any retakes for this trimester is March 9th.
